dc.description.abstracten This work studies the ideas and achievements of Jomard Muniz de Britto as an artist and theatrical thinker. In particular, it examines how he, from Recife, far from the two main centers of theater production in Brazil - Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, took an active position in the process of debate about Pernambuco theater. Relying mainly on documents produced by Jomard himself, especially in his books, letters, manifestos, shows and films, this research discussed what defines the thought and artistic practice of Jomard Muniz and its relevance in the theatrical field – and beyond it. . What the dissertation brings into focus, however, is Jomard Muniz Britto's position in relation to the great tensions that occurred in Pernambuco culture from manifestations of his theatrical thought from the 1970s to the 1990s. and intellectual, located in the Northeast, reacted to the contradictions, or rather, to the challenges inherent in the demand for a theater that was, at the same time, vanguard and rearguard (resistance). The idea of “Staged Thought”, here, does not concern only the theoretical writings of the studied author. This expression is used, in a broader sense, to describe the artistic and performance activities of Jomard Muniz de Britto in the simultaneous fields of creation and reflection. “Staged thought”, therefore, is the term chosen to designate, at the same time, the interlocutions, motivations and actions that shaped the trajectory of this philosopher-artist in Pernambuco’s theatrical culture. Jomard's theatrical essayistic "method" may perhaps help us to understand procedures for coping with an idea of "Northeast theater" and "Northeastern culture". Especially if we think about the search for a new form and a language that would be able to capture the most subtle dimensions of the subjectivity of a “region” in its relationship with time itself and with the world, and in a work guided by an intimate relationship between writing, portrait and subjectivity. So we made a possible microcartography of the staged thought of Jomard Muniz de Britto. pt_BR
